There’s really no such thing as a “real” clay chip anymore. Certainly not in use in the casinos—they break too easily and cost too much to use everyday! The “clay” chips used here in Vegas are made by Paulson. They weigh about 9 grams each, and have about 15% clay. Their average life is short, for they wear out in 3 years or less due to the softness. They cost about $1.08 each to make, plus art work. Casinos use them because they have many built in security measures, like the embossed hat/cane you see around the edge that our home use imports don't have.
We are pleased to offer a variety of chips-from the 11.5 gram clay and acrylic composition chip, to "real clay" chips like the old-time casino chips...to the lighter, plastic composition chips that are just right for the beginner-or the large casino night you're planning!
All the Poker Chips shown here are 11.5 grams, unless otherwise marked. Casino Chips are 9 grams.
How many chips do you need? It really depends on what you play and how many people are in your game. A decent rule-of-thumb is 40 to 50 chips per person. From the lowest denomination to the highest, you'll want to use a 4,3,2, 1 mix. For example: 200 white, 150 red, 100 blue, 50 green. But this is just a guide. ..you can mix and match anyway you'd like to have them!" |
